Active Balance Health Through Integration

Author: Dennis Bartram

Over the last 30 years I have studied martial methods along side natural medicine principles., my knowledge of anatomy and the body mechanics economics of movement inside martial systems. Conversely these simple and natural movements were slowly integrated into my therapeutic procedures. This daily interweaving of natural movement and corrective medicine brought about much knowledge and experience of the body. It has the ability to utilise natural leverage and its own fluid dynamics to bring about self-correction in many cases of stubborn and chronic conditions.

STRESS IS HITTING PEOPLE IN ALL WALKS OF LIFE

Modern day pressures are turning 21st century man into a walking time bomb. Our ancestors although primitive in many ways did what came naturally, his exercise evolved around hunting, building and farming and using his highly tuned senses, literally to survive. On the other hand modern man sits in badly designed chairs, sleeps in badly designed beds, slumps before the television and will even take his car to slip to the corner shop.

And when 21st century man takes exercise its violent competitive stuff pushing hard against bodies and minds that are not in tune. People play to win - not for the sheer love and relaxation that sporting activities can and should be. Playing allows us to enjoy a relaxed intensity, the power of the wind or a wave. We are our own worst enemies and with a little correction and help our bodies and minds could be fitter as we tune into good health. For even bad posture can lead us down a road of pain and health problems.

The brain has two sides - the left which is the trying side - the right which is the more imaginative, intuitive side. However modern man has been programmed NOT to use the right side of the brain intuitively and now needs ‘educating' once more to bring that side of the brain into play as instinctively as primitive man. The body has a terrific innate ability, which we allow to lie dormant through lack of use and knowledge.

A baby on the other hand has none of the hang-ups of the supposedly sophisticated adult and uses power naturally and instinctively.Just think of a baby's grip and how it will hang on if an adult hooks their fingers under the infants.

We also suffer from nutritional stress because of the chemicalisation of soil and modern cooking methods rob us of essential vitamins and enzymes. Plus the addition of colourings and preservatives are leaving many of us out of balance and less vital.

The natural magnetic field on the surface of the earth is now dropping in power, disturbance from electrical pylons as well as being polluted by electromagnetic mobile phones etc. Stress is hitting people in every walk of life and brought on by a treadmill lifestyle people seem incapable of stepping off.

NOW! WHAT EXACTLY IS

MOVEMENT ORIENTATED THERAPY

It is an Ancient system of natural, movement and attitude that integrates the body and mind with the benefits of expanding our potential as human beings. It employs ancient gentle, natural movement patterns to coax your body back to the relaxed integrated form of the child.

This very simple method quickly allows having a greater sensitivity of your body, leading to more co-ordination when lifting, exercising or going about your daily chores.

Regular practice leads to a new understanding of the body's energies and its flow, giving way to a greater power source than muscular strength, which is based on leverage, the limiting factor of a joint's strength.

This regular practise then leads to a shift in mental attitude of confidence, positivity and a relaxed way of concentrating. A major goal of top athletes.
