So what is the best water filter system on the market? There really is no right or wrong answer as to which is the best. There are so many filters out there that saying which one is best is really difficult, if not impossible.
Not only are there a ton of different brands to choose from, but you also have to determine whether you want a pitcher purifier, faucet, whole house system, shower filter, and then determine which methods you want to use to filter your water, such as reverse osmosis, ion exchange, distillation, etc.
With that said, however, some of the more important things a filter should be capable of is eliminating chlorine, lead, VOCS, and a few others, but these are the most critical. If it's not effective at taking out chlorine, then forget about it.
Some people prefer reverse osmosis, as it has proven effective to take out most of the negative substances in water, but it also has shown that it actually eliminates nutrients as well, and it also uses up a tremendous amount of water, and the estimates are that you really only get to use five to fifteen percent of the water you pour, which obviously will not do you any favors for your water bill each month.
Also, it can't take out organic chemicals either, as well as a few bad gasses. The same criticism has come up for distillation, which, again, takes out most of the bad things in water but also removes most of the minerals and nutrients that are found in water either.
This has shown to create a highly acidic level in the water, or low pH levels, and therefore can have a negative effect on health. Each of these processes has their proponents and critics in the health industry, and you really need to investigate for yourself and determine which method is best for you.
Finding the best water filters is obviously very important for saving money and of course, improving your health. All too many filters simply make you feel better about your health without really improving it, so finding the top filters is very critical. Since I can't review every model of water purifier out there, here is a review of some of the best water filters in the pitcher category.
One of the cheaper filters out there, but also one of the more best water filters, is the PUR CR-6000 two stage pitcher, and this one is only a refrigerator filter, and therefore it sells for just seventeen bucks, but nevertheless, is still very effective at improving your water quality. This one is actually the most recommended water filter out of any on the market.
All you do is pour the water into it, and then the water is automatically taken through the water filter before it becomes drinkable. It always rates towards the top in terms of good tasting water, and it also has proven to me more effective at eliminating harmful substances than Brita, one of it's main competitors.
It has proven to take out twenty one different contaminants, including chlorine, lead and copper, the most dangerous, and while no filters are certified to eliminate pharmaceuticals, even so this water filter supposedly takes out ninety six percent of them, making it the best water filter among pitcher purifiers on the market.
