You need to be realistic and learn to listen to your body. An exercise plan does not have to be so rigorous it would challenge an Olympic athlete; simply building up a bit more muscle would help to speed up your metabolism as muscle is more efficient at burning fat than body fat is. If you don't want to go to the gym, heft a couple of baked bean cans around - there are plenty of exercises online that show you a few calisthenics with weights. Take the dogs for a walk and get some fresh air - at best, it will get you away from the kitchen and the refrigerator door.
Make dieting easy for yourself, follow a suitable weight loss plan, increase your exercise, change your mindset and believe in yourself. After all, if you like yourself, you are more likely to indulge yourself in little treats to make you feel good: buy yourself a bath bomb or a new nail varnish, or save up for a massage or some other body treatment. It will make you feel better and help to keep you following your weight loss plan. If you increase the amount of fiber you eat, digestion will be more thorough and you will feel fuller for longer as complex carbohydrates such as wholegrain cereals and breads, take much longer for the body to break down into simple glucose which can be absorbed directly into the blood stream.
An easy way to limit your calories is to change your cooking habits. If you use a good quality baking parchment, most foods designed for shallow frying can be baked in the oven with no additional fat. Deep fried food really piles on the pounds but chips can still be made to taste like chips without being deep fried. Peel a couple of large potatoes and cut them into chip shapes. Then, take a large empty freezer bag and place the raw chipped potato into the freezer bag. Take a dessertspoonful of good cooking oil, (olive oil is always my own preference due to its taste, more than anything) and empty the oil into the freezer bag.
Now, just close the top of the freezer bag and shake. I mean - really, really shake. Part of this is the exercise value you get from doing this. However, what you are doing with a vigorous shake is distributing the cooking oil throughout the chips. Now, since you know the calories of the raw potatoes and you can easily find out the calories of a single dessertspoonful of oil, you simply add the calories together and you have the total calories for this portion of chips. All you need to do now is to empty out the coated raw potatoes onto a parchment covered baking tray and bake in the over until golden brown. Much better than being a martyr and shaking your head when the rest of the family are eating chips! You get to eat them too. For successful weight loss you need to be realistic - and be kind to yourself.
