You need to get rid of that fat waist that is making you so uncomfortable, but, what is the best way to lose fat waist? This is a question that is plaguing most of us. Making it worse is the fact that you cannot spot reduce this despite what some will tell you. A general weight loss effort is needed here!

How to lose fat waist:

1. The starting point here revolves around two things:

* A Healthy well balanced diet
* Regular, moderate exercise

2. A healthy balanced diet:

A healthy balanced diet is the first step to lose fat waist. A healthy balanced diet consists of all the food groups. It is never a good idea to omit a whole food group. So often people think they will lose fat faster if they stop eating starch and fat completely. Unfortunately this is not true; your body needs all the food groups to stay healthy. The trick here is to eat them in the correct proportions, prepared in a healthy way.

3. The six food groups as they appear in the food pyramid:

* Grains
* Vegetables
* Fruits
* Oils
* Milk
* Meat and beans

3. How to combine the groups for a balanced diet:

* Five small portions of carbohydrates and high carb veggies such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, peas and legumes
* Six large portions of vegetables raw or steamed
* Three small portions of fruit, beware of bananas, do not eat more than one small banana per day.
* Three portions of oils including oil for cooking and margarine and butter for spreading do not for get about the oil in sauces. Be very careful with the oil, it is very easy to eat too much. A portion is about one teaspoon
* Two portions of low fat dairy products, this includes yoghurt and low fat cheese. Be careful of hard cheeses as they usually contain a lot of fat.
* Three small portions of low fat meat and beans. You will notice that legumes can be eaten as part of your proteins or carbohydrates. Remember to supply a complete protein legumes always have to be eaten with a starch.
* Drink at least eight glasses of water a day to wash away all toxins

4. "Foods" to exclude:

* Try to eat fruit instead of drinking fruit juice as the juice contains a lot of sugar and your body needs the fiber in the fruit.
* Sodas are poison to a person trying to lose weight because it also contains a lot of sugar.
* Stay away from alcohol as much as possible as it contains a lot of "empty" calories.
* No candy or chocolate! If you crave something, snack on vegetables

These are only rough guidelines. You have to adapt it to your level of activeness. If you are very active you will need to eat more. Men also need a little more carbs and protein than women.

Following these guidelines will go a long way towards losing a fat waist.

4. Exercise to lose fat waist:

Now you may well ask what exercise you need to do. Well, you need to do cardio at least three times a week for at least forty minutes at a time and then you have to do some specific exercises to target your problem area.

5. Moderate cardio exercise to help you lose fat waist:

Any exercise that increases your heart rate to about 60% of its maximum will do the trick to burn fat. Go for a brisk walk, kick a ball with the kids walk to work instead of taking the bus etc.

6. Exercises targeting the problem area:

Do exercises specially worked out to target the correct muscles. Here you may have to get the help of a professional to work out your routine for you.
