When you think about "How To Lose Weight" calories need not be a problem. It is true that you need to reduce calories to lose weight. What is good though, you can reduce them without having to count them.

It is possible to reduce the energy content, of what you eat each day, by simply becoming aware of what you are eating. Do not pop anything into your mouth absentmindedly. Take note of all you eat. Always pay attention to your meals and smacks, that way you will not eat more than you realize.

Another part of how you can reduce calories is by making healthier choices. Always try and cook your meals from fresh ingredients. Pre-packaged meals have many hidden ingredients that can hamper your efforts.

1. Vegetables:

Try and concentrate on lots of vegetables. Eat at least five large portions of fresh vegetables a day. Eat as many of them raw as possible and steam the others. Add taste with fresh herbs. Be very careful not to add calories to your vegetables with your cooking methods.

2. Carbohydrates:

Limit your carbohydrates to five small portions a day. These portions include potatoes, sweet potatoes, rice, pasta and other grains. Try and concentrate on full grains and do not eat any refined grains. This helps your body to eliminate excess pounds.

3. Fruit:

Fruit is very healthy and should not be excluded. Keep in mind that fruit contain a lot of sugar, so eat not more than three small portions a day. It is also important to eat fruit and not drink fruit juice. As fruit juice is very concentrated, it contains even more sugar. Your body also needs the fiber in the fruit.

4. Protein:

Eat at least three small portions of protein a day. Eat legumes, low fat chicken, fish and low fat meat. Limit red meat to no more than three times a week. Your body needs protein as a building block and it is important that you eat enough. Beware of all fatty meat.

5. Fat:

Do not try and go without food for more than three hours, it can only lead to a binge with disastrous results. Eat moderately and the weight will come off healthily and easily. It may take a little longer, but it will be far more permanent.
