Why Am I Fat? Please I Need Help

Fill In Your Details

Author: Magrietha Du Plessis

Why are you asking the question: why am I fat? It is possible that you do no think you eat too much. If you ate too much all the time you would not be wondering why you are fat, you would know you are overweight because you are eating too much.

Another possibility is that you are not quite sure about what the right amount of food it is you need to eat everyday. You may think it is possible that you are eating right and that you still are obese.

To answer this question you have to look at a few things:

i) The problem of fast food
ii) The problem of portion control
iii) The problem with cooking methods
iv) The problem of too little exercise

1. The problem of fast food:

Fast food is the curse of our modern lifestyle. We do not really know what we are eating when we order fast food. There is no control over the amount of fat used etc. so it makes it very difficult to know how many calories you are actually eating.

2. The problem of portion control:

This problem is part of the above, but it also includes the meals you eat at home and at family and friends. When ordering fast food it is so easy to order the bigger portions as they are always far better value for money. With fast food you also normally order a soda and unless it is a diet soda it piles up the calories even more.

Because of the huge portions served by fast food vendors and in restaurants, may of us do not know what a normal portion is any more. We think a plate piled as high as possible is normal. It is also important to know how the food on your plate should be proportioned. You have to be aware of how large your portion of protein should be in relation to your veggies and the same goes for the starch.

3. The problem with cooking methods:

When you are preparing your meals, you have to make sure that you do not add unnecessary calories with your cooking methods. Stay away from the oil, butter and cream as far as possible. Try and grill your meat and steam your vegetables. It is also a good idea to eat as much raw veggies as possible and beware of those salad dressings!

4. The problem of too little exercise:

If you are very busy, it is possible that you are not getting enough exercise. You sit in the bus, train or car on your way to school or work. Get home and sit behind the computer and later in front of the television. I'm sure this is what your life looks like, because this is what mine looks like!

Try and include as much exercise in your daily routine as possible. Think of ways that you can do things different to include exercise. Get off the bus one stop earlier and walk the rest of the way. Always take the stairs if at all possible or get off the elevator a few floor sooner and climb the rest. Do your shopping on foot if at all possible. These are only a few suggestions, I'm sure you can think of many more.

Good news! There is a program that can help you. Visit Magriet's site How To Lose Weight at: http://www.how-to-lose-weight-calories.com/documents/fat_loss_4_idiots.html for the info. Good advice on her blog called How To Lose Weight at: http://how-to-lose-weight-calories.com/fat_loss_for_idiots/
