Psychological Benefits of Running, with sports psychiatrist, Dr. Sarah Pospos

Join Dr. Michelle Quirk and sports psychiatrist, Dr. Sarah Pospos, for an insightful discussion about the psychological benefits of running and aerobic exercise, as well as how to go about navigating setbacks and injuries.

Running provides a sense of mastery which is linked to self-esteem and self confidence. There is also the social and community building aspect. It boosts our mood, and in our conversation, Dr. Pospos shares with us why that is.

Dr. Pospos completed her psychiatry residency as a chief resident at UCLA-Kern. As a sports psychiatrist and former student athlete, she is devoted to helping aspiring, current and former athletes with depression, performance and general anxiety, insomnia and other psychiatric challenges associated with injury, concussion, retirement from sport, overtraining, and others. Dr. Pospos also empowers athletes to optimize and balance their lives by incorporating exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress management, efficient time management (especially as a new mom of 2 under 2) and other lifestyle changes.
