Meet Dennis Bartram
Pioneer of Structural Alignment and Movement Therapy for Over 50 Years
Dennis Bartram has dedicated his life to helping people restore natural movement, ease chronic tension, and live with structural freedom. With over five decades of hands-on practice, Dennis is a leading authority in whole-body alignment and the deeper mechanics of human movement.
Trained in Japan by Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi, Dennis was one of the first Westerners to study and adapt these ancient movement principles for modern therapy. His work bridges Eastern and Western approaches, combining traditional martial arts, biotensegrity, neurology, and musculoskeletal therapy into a system now known globally as the Active Balance And Release, his first Active Balance Book, dating back to 1989.
What Makes Dennis Different?
Most practitioners treat symptoms. Dennis addresses the root, how your body aligns, breathes, and moves as one integrated structure.
He developed a system of assessments and treatments that track how tension patterns shift throughout the body. His methods focus on restoring functional alignment using natural movement, fascial release, postural cues, and neurological resets, often without invasive manipulation.
A Teacher Coach, Not Just a Therapist
Dennis isn’t just a practitioner; he’s trained hundreds of therapists worldwide and continues to teach today. His students span Europe, the U.S., and beyond, and many have gone on to develop their own successful practices using his alignment-based methods.
He believes true healing happens when the client learns to carry their own structure with awareness and ease, rather than relying on someone else to “fix” them.
Legacy, Simplicity, and Purpose
Now in his later years, Dennis continues to teach, treat, and inspire. His mission is simple:
To help more people, especially in retirement and beyond, regain freedom through alignment, live with vitality, and leave a legacy of empowered movement.
He practices what he teaches, often walking daily, sharing stories from his early days in Japan, or adjusting someone’s shoulder mid-conversation with a grin.
